Hip, Knee and Ankle Dysfunction

Defined

Hip: Pain is located in the upper thigh or gluteal area. Pain can occur with movement or at rest. It may inhibit walking and affect your balance and stability. Sleeping in sidelying positions may increase pain.

Knee: Pain along the patella (knee cap) and across the joint line with weight bearing activities. Pain may also occur with knee flexion, squatting, walking, and sitting. Pain can be associated with hyper-mobility of the knee joint.

Ankle: Pain in the ankle with weight bearing activities, which may be accompanied by swelling and ligamentous instability (hypermobility).
